Located on the crossroads of the Newell and Mid Western Highways, West Wyalong offers excellent services for the traveller. There is plenty to see and do including the Garden Club 2000 Rose Garden, Bland District Museum, True Blue Mining Poppet Head, Green Corridor Walking Track, Aboriginal Artifacts Shop, Beckett's Pioneer Farm, Le Bland Art Gallery and the Douglas DC3 Dakota to name a few.
Twenty Five minutes from West Wyalong down the Olympic Highway, Barmedman is a small rural town that is catering specifically to the Grey Nomad wanderer. Having recently participated in a Grey Nomad Project the community of Barmedman is now doing everything they can to entice the Grey Nomad's into their community.
Barmedman boasts a mineral pool that originates from the flooding of goldmines by an underground stream. The pool is situated on a four-hectare reserve with barbeque facilities and is free to enter. Barmedman also invites Grey Nomad travellers to participate in community projects such as arts and crafts and reading at the school, as well as gardening and other town beautification projects at certain times of the year. Even if you would like to do a little work to subsidise your travels along the way, the Grey Nomads Employment, 'work for wanderers' website can assist.
Barmedman and West Wyalong both offer caravan and camping facilities. For further enquiries call into the Visitor Information Centre in West Wyalong (opposite Target), phone us on (02) 6972 3545 or visit www.blandshire.nsw.gov.au/tourism.html
