Millmerran is situated on the Gore Highway on the Darling Downs. 220 klms south-west of Brisbane, 80 klms south-west of Toowoomba and 140 klms north-east of Goondiwindi.

The first European settlers to claim Yandilla Station in 1841 were Sire George R and Ralph T Gore. Edward walpole established his general store at Back Creen, later renamed 'Millmerran' in 1881.
The Shire of Millmerran was proclaimed on the 23th of April 1913.
